Zurich City Tour

Sightseeing, Dadaism and Einstein in Zurich's city center.

Throughout the centuries, Zurich's city center was marked by numerous personalities, like Einstein, James Joyce or Lenin, who lived here before leading the russian revolution in October 1917. Also, the art and literary movement Dadaism has found its birthplace in Zurich's Cabaret Voltaire.

On our walk towards the Lake, the Lindenhof provides us with a marvellous view over the Limmat and to the Grossmünster. At the Fraumünster, we enjoy the brilliant windows made by Marc Chagall and at the St. Peter's Church, the biggest clock face in Europe.

Old Town Tour Zurich

Stories of a hidden world.

Zurich's old town holds within itself evidence of both Celtic and Roman Times. The settlement of Turicum started at the top of the Lindenhof, a moraine hill that mainly corresponds to the late Roman fort. In the Middle Ages it was a royal palace, where the leader of the German Empire resided from time to time. After the palace's demolition in the 13th century, the Lindenhof became a public park.

Our tour starts with the hidden ruins of both the Roman fort and the royal palace. We delve into the daily life of the inhabitants of medieval Zurich, find a long-forgotten well's shaft and explore the hidden Ehgraben. We trail the medieval main road, the Niederdorfstrasse, which thanks to its restaurants and bars remains one of the most popular streets in town.

La Dolce Vita!

Chocolate-made stories.

You've heard of it made with coffee, mostly with sugar, sometimes with milk or just pure cacao. You've heard of it for breakfast, for tea time or aperitif. Every chocolatier or common person knows that life can be sour. Therefore, you have to make it sweet. At least, if you are a Swiss citizen or merely live in Switzerland.

Our sweet tour takes us on a journey through the innovations of François-Louis Cailler and David Sprüngli, whose discoveries made of swiss chocolate an irrefutable reference worldwide. But our tour is not only about chocolate. It’s also about success stories of men and women, who turned their lives sweet, by being creative with sugar.

Happy End

5 love stories from Switzerland's largest city.

Sometimes Hollywood seems to be all about fantasy and happy ending. Well, believe it or not, such stories happen. At least in Zurich! Stories about parents, who disinherit their children for choosing to marry out of love. About young women educated à la (My Fair Lady) or long lost lovers who after a life apart end up living happily ever after are all alive here and could win over the best film fiction.

Professor Henle educated the nanny, Elise, to act like a lady so she could be his beloved wife. The twice-widowed Anna had their husbands go against conventions and taboos to marry her. Max and Heidi fell in love as they were young, lived separate lives and got back together after 60 years. And the inevitable Casanova stopped off in 1760 at Zurich's Hotel zum Schwert, where he decided to become a monk. But his ideas changed at the sight of a beautiful Amazone. These and other hilarious stories have prime time during this passionate tour.

Historical Tour: Zurich out of a PR campaign

from roman custom's station to city republic.

We'll walk the narrow boundaries between history and legend. Dive into a world of political manipulation and pure fantasy. We'll see guilds gaining power and helping transform the essence of citizenship on the shores of the Limmat. The decisive element is the legend around the city's saints, Felix and Regula, who lived in Roman times and dared to convert Roman Turicum to Christianity. For their actions and their refusal to worship the Roman state gods, they were beheaded.

This story has accompanied the development of the small Roman customs post on its way to becoming Switzerland's largest city. The legend is still present in Zurich's life and has been throughout the times skillfully used by the city's elite to self-enactment. This strategy ended up promoting a political turnaround and the end of a three centuries cycle of political power of the Fraumünster Abbey.
