Old Town Tour Zurich
Stories of a hidden world.
Zurich's old town holds within itself evidence of both Celtic and Roman Times. The settlement of Turicum started at the top of the Lindenhof, a moraine hill that mainly corresponds to the late Roman fort. In the Middle Ages it was a royal palace, where the leader of the German Empire resided from time to time. After the palace's demolition in the 13th century, the Lindenhof became a public park.
Our tour starts with the hidden ruins of both the Roman fort and the royal palace. We delve into the daily life of the inhabitants of medieval Zurich, find a long-forgotten well's shaft and explore the hidden Ehgraben. We trail the medieval main road, the Niederdorfstrasse, which thanks to its restaurants and bars remains one of the most popular streets in town.
Start: Lindenhof or a place of your preference.
Duration: between 1.5 and 2 hours.
